ERA 2: N.N.N.N. (2020-2023)

“IT’s OKAY TO BE AFRAID”

The first single of 2020 and our second era, “it’s okay to be afraid” was released on April 2, 2020. The self-proclaimed first lockdown song ever released, “it’s okay to be afraid” was written, recorded, and released as the United States and world were slowly beginning the first series of lockdowns in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The single was later re-released with an unplugged version and the B-side “i’ll wait for you.”

“PEACHY”

Our single “peachy” was released on July 17, 2020. The first of three collaborations with producer Nicholas Antonio Goncalves, ‘peachy’ was a direct conceptual response to the deep civil tensions that were exploding across the United States and internationally. The song was featured on Spotify’s “Alternative Beats” and “Sludge” editorial playlists.

“GUILLOTINE”

“Guillotine” was released on February 5, 2021, in collaboration with electronic rock duo 8 Graves. A direct response to the United States capitol riots of weeks prior, the song is a swinging and heavy dark pop track. The track amassed millions of streams in its first year and has been featured on Cloudkid, Valiant, UNCVRD, and MrMOMMusic.

“how to lose your self” ep

Our 4th EP entitled how to lose your self released on December 17, 2021. Our darkest body of work to date, “how to lose your self” is a sweeping concept record written throughout the pandemic lockdowns about isolation, rejection, and the loss of identity. The record features the juxtaposition between whispered hooks, massive instrumental passages, and nebulous walls of sound where distorted guitars and synthetics merge together. The record has been featured by Valiant, Mr. Suicide Sheep, Nightblue, and UNCVRD music.

Produced: Joshua Perna, Nicholas Antonio Goncalves Mixed: Nicholas Antonio Goncalves (Tracks 2, 4, 5, & 6) Mastered: Chris Gehringer of Sterling Sound (Tracks 4 & 6) Carl Bahner (Tracks 1, 2, 3, & 5)

“BECOMING NOTHING” LP

Our first proper full length record, “BECOMING NOTHING” is a concept record begun in the depths of the pandemic and fully formed in the fresh air on the other side of it. An album that explores what the sense of self is and how it’s lost, both in ways that are spiritually healthy and ways that are self destructive, in the digital age. Ironically, we truly found ourselves and the full potential of our sound on this album, merging the worlds of pop, alt rock, and industrial electronic music in a blend that finally felt completely us.

“BECOMING NOTHING",” upon release, has accrued over +10,000,000 streams.

ERA 1: YOUTH// (2017 - 2019)

“GETAWAY (REMIX)” x “HAZY”

“YOUTH//1” EP

Our debut EP was released in the summer of 2017. Written as a series of loops and samples mashed up with live guitars and drums, YOUTH//1 was the first time we had ever experimented with electronic elements to our music. Singles from YOUTH//1, including “GETAWAY” and “HUMAN,” were featured on playlists such as Spotify’s POPTRONIX, Alexrainbirdmusic, and more.

Following our debut EP, we released a pair of singles with EDM producer Modern Machines. The “GETAWAY (Remix)” and single “Hazy” garnered over a million streams and served as our first collaboration with another artist.

“YOUTH//2” EP

Our follow-up to YOUTH//1 came in summer of 2018. At this point we knew that we wanted to make a themed trilogy of records, and YOUTH//2 began as some of the B-sides of our first EP. This record was experimental and, at times, unfocused. It’s a much less “electronic” album than its predecessor and its stand-out track, “INFINITE,” remains our most organic track and is a fan favorite.

“FEVER”

Following YOUTH//2 we released “FEVER,” a dark reinterpretation of the classic Peggy Lee track. The track was featured on Spotify’s “NEW MUSIC FRIDAY.”

“MAKEDAMNSURE”

We didn’t intend to release two covers in a row, but soon after ‘FEVER’ we were greenlit to released ‘MAKEDAMNSURE,’ a cover of our childhood heroes Taking Back Sunday, with our previous collaborator Modern Machines. This time we also partnered with EDM legends Adventure Club.

“YOUTH//3” EP

The end of the era, we completed our YOUTH// trilogy in the summer of 2019. The most focused of the three EPs, YOUTH//3 finally found the perfect blend of electronic and rock elements. The record featured singles that were heavily influenced of the arena indie-pop of the decade. Featured singles “MANTRA” and “SLEEPTALK” were featured on several Spotify playlists such as NEW NOISE, New in Rock, and others.

“YOUTH// (DELUXE)” LP

In retrospect we realized that our trilogy of EPs —the very first records we put out— spanned a three year time period and totaled 20 songs; it felt like a full length record told in parts. These songs encapsulated this era of our lives and summarized the beginnings of Saint Slumber, so we wanted to memorialize the trilogy in an actual LP. We chose 11 of our favorite songs from the trilogy (and turned a blind eye to what we regarded as failed experiments) which amounts to a full length album we’re proud to look back on.
